About Us

Meet The Teachers 

Welcome to our blog!  Here is a little background information and a small peek into the lives of these two teacher authors.

Molly:
I am a sixth year teacher of High School ELA. I currently teach with Katy at a highly diverse, low income, Catholic Prep School in Boston. Crazy combination right? I started my teaching career in rural central Illinois at a public high school, and earned tenure there after my 4th year.  While teaching in Illinois I earned my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction with a Focus on Language and Literacy.  I also earned a reading endorsement for the state of Illinois.

I moved to Boston to be closer to my family and for a change of scenery and I love love love the east coast! Since moving here, I have also entered a part-time MBA program to help learn some skills and earn qualifications to work in some of the organizations that drive what is happening in our classrooms.  I believe the business of education should include experienced educators in the decision making!

Katy:

I am a fifth year teacher of High School Math. Molly and I have worked together for the past two years at a highly diverse, low income, Catholic prep school in Boston, MA. I started my teaching career in Knoxville, Tennessee while attending the University of Tennessee Knoxville to earn my Masters in Secondary Education.

I moved to Boston five years ago after graduation with my husband in order for him to attend graduate school. I have been at the same school (where I am with Molly) teaching AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, and Honors PreCalculus since my first year! I guess my Head of School had a lot of faith in my abilities giving a first year teacher three AP classes. I love my students and go to work every day for them. They even convinced me to moderate National Honor Society and coach the varsity volleyball team. I am so grateful I made the choice to say yes to all of these opportunities and look forward to sharing my experiences on our blog!
